The challenge: Too many tenants, not enough consistency

GCS Technologies has delivered IT support and security services to small and mid-sized businesses in Austin for more than 20 years.

As a certified Microsoft partner, they know the platform inside and out. But managing Microsoft 365 consistently across a growing number of customer tenants was becoming increasingly difficult.

Every tenant at GCS had its own policy naming conventions. That meant extra verification work whenever the team needed to review configurations or confirm that security policies were deployed correctly.

Managing Microsoft Defender threat indicators was another challenge. When the team needed to add or update malicious domains, URLs, IP addresses, or file hashes, they had to log into each tenant individually. There was no centralized way to deploy updates or verify that protections were applied consistently across every customer environment.

GCS also wanted a more proactive approach to Apple MDM certificate management. Sometimes they didn’t discover a certificate had expired until after the 30-day grace period had already passed.

The solution: One place to manage it all

inforcer gives GCS a centralized platform to audit Microsoft 365 tenants and ensure baseline security policies are applied consistently. When Microsoft introduces changes, the team can quickly see exactly which tenants are out of alignment and take action.

The same approach extends to Microsoft Defender threat indicators.

When GCS needs to add or update malicious domains, URLs, IP addresses, or file hashes, the team can make the change once within a shared baseline and deploy it consistently across customer tenants.

Monthly maintenance that once required logging into individual tenants can now be managed centrally, helping the team spend less time on repetitive administration and more time improving security outcomes for customers.

The experience has been overwhelmingly positive. The inforcer team and the broader community they’ve built are genuinely fantastic. Everyone has been welcoming, helpful, and receptive to feedback. It’s clear that product improvements are influenced by real user input.

The results: Consistent protection across 80+ customers

Before inforcer, deploying and validating Microsoft Defender threat indicators required manual effort across individual tenants. Now, GCS can manage threat intelligence from a centralized baseline, making it easier to deploy updates consistently and verify protections across customer environments.

The team also has greater visibility into tenant health and security posture. Drift monitoring, assessments, nightly backups, and policy alerts help uncover configuration gaps and identify changes before they become larger issues.

Apple MDM management is now more proactive as well. Certificate expiration alerts help ensure renewals are addressed before they disrupt customer environments, reducing administrative overhead and eliminating last-minute surprises.
